What's Hyundai transponder key used for?

How does Hyundai transponder key work?
The immobilizer system consists of the ECM and a SMARTRA unit. The SMARTRA is an integrated inductive antenna placed around the ignition lock assembly. Initially, all valid transponder are stored in the ECM. Then a key teaching procedure program the vehicle specific data into each transponder memory.
When the key inserted to the ignition, the SMARTRA converts the radio frequency signal of the transponder into serial communication. Then it send the translated signal to the ECM. The ECM and the transponder carries out the check using special encryption algorithm. When a wrong key with unmatched code inserted, the vehicle becomes immobilized until the proper key used.
